Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) had an incredible time celebrating NBA All-Star Game Weekend! We were honored to be a beneficiary of the NBA Cares State Farm Assist Tracker program, which donates $1,900 for every assist made during the NBA All-Star Game. We are deeply grateful to the NBA, State Farm, and NBA Cares for their investment in our mission and our youth.
Beyond the generous donation, our Club members had the opportunity to attend the NBA All-Star Game Practice on Saturday, February 15th, at Oakland Arena and the highly anticipated NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 16th, at Chase Center. These experiences allowed our youth to witness some of the best players in the game up close, inspiring their love for basketball and teaching them to work hard and set aspirational goals. The excitement didn’t stop there, as a select group of members also took part in a special pre-game experience where they had the honor of presenting each All-Star with their ring before tip-off.
Imogen, who has been a member of our Don Fisher Clubhouse for nine years, shares her All-Star experience with CBS News.
Adding to the weekend’s excitement, Club members from our Tenderloin Clubhouse attended an exclusive Jordan event at Niketown, where they were gifted Jordan merchandise and had the unforgettable experience of meeting NBA players and hearing directly from them about their experiences.
Middle school and high school youth from Clubs across the city also had the opportunity to engage in a hands-on experience participating in a basketball clinic hosted at our Don Fisher Clubhouse. We are grateful to American Ballers and Cisco Systems for running this youth program and for choosing BGCSF for their San Francisco partnership. Special guests included Hall of Famer and Warriors Champion, Rick Barry, and Warriors Champion, Festus Ezeli. These two popular former Warriors joined the clinic, sharing their expertise and advice to the next generation of athletes.
BGCSF is profoundly appreciative of these opportunities that empower our members, fuel their aspirations, and connect them with unique experiences and positive role models. Thank you to the NBA, The Golden State Warriors, State Farm, American Ballers, Jordan, Nike, Cisco Systems, and all of our partners for making this All-Star Weekend one to remember!

A year ago, I was a high school senior navigating my final year at Lowell High School and balancing my commitment to soccer and school leadership activities. That’s when I was nominated to participate in Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Youth of the Year program as the finalist from Mission Clubhouse.
